If you want to be involved with your child on the field, simply introduce yourself to your child’s coach and let them know that you are willing to help at practice and at games. Experienced players and coaches are always welcome, of course, but you can also become a coach without any soccer experience whatsoever.
Watch what the other coaches are doing. Ask questions. Get involved. Different age divisions have varying numbers of children in them, and larger groups are much more difficult to coach. Extra coaches means that players can be divided into groups, and can move from station-to-station doing different drills. Even if you think things are running well on the field without you, they could probably run better with a few extra hands.
Wear shorts and athletic shoes to practice and get a little exercise along with your young player!
